We don't get that many so I'm manually attending to them as they come.
What I do is remove the links etc in their profiles and signatures and any threads get moved to our hidden spam folder which we only one 4 threads of those so far and place the user under moderation.
I also send them a pm about it or email depending, as every user that sins up needs a valid email address and to pass our verification system which is just a company that owns a game console or the stock math question, we also use the hidden capura system.
So I am certain that these people are actively signing up to sites to promote their own taking advantage of linkbacks and keywords on other sites etc.
I don't remove / delete the users, ban or whatever else from just placing the account under moderation.
Also I encourage every spammer to actively and properly participate in the community.
We have to remember that these are normal people that are spamming, usually for a reason that because of a dire financial or bad job market situation they are in so they feel forced into doing this stuff to advertise to generate customers and market which in turn finances the person behind this stuff, as most people wouldn't take time out of their day to do what they are doing for no reason or benefit for themselves.
I do find it funny that most of these spammers tick the mental health checkbox which is entirely optional and not required to join us.
Also I don't want us to have a ban list larger from the active user list for one and a nice user number is actually good business in a way as long as the forum is active and getting a decent amount of content and traffic.
Also as head Admin I would encourage and require any future staff, that we take a different approach to most places online with dealing with issues from annoying users aka trolls, bullies and spammers etc.
Instead of banning them we plan to discourage others by educating and working with them for a better outcome for everyone.
I find it more fun and polite this way to do everything positive and to encourage people no matter how bad they are the worse they are the better we are.
So on that note if anyone has some changes, additions etc for our registration system and anything else let us know in the relevant threads, I'm all ears well in this case eyes as I can't exactly hear you.
